The advice of our Lord Jesus Christ to love as “He loved us” changes radically conformist things and leads towards sacrifice, to the “denial of our self.” Then you come to understand how little is your love and how great is His love. You know, from the sorrow of your grief, that your love is limited and His is not. Thus, the cure of disappointment is needed in order to purify your soul. If you love and give yourself fully, then you have everything.

The course of life, as we may see, has many ups and downs. Our plans and calculations prove to remain unfulfilled while events in our life come in a different manner. But, I believe that nothing that was already mentioned is as harmful as disappointment from other people is – disappointment from people who you expected to love you just as much as you love them, to receive as much as you give, to be as close to you as you were to them.

As great as disappointment may be great is also its healing power. If you shall fall in despair, you have lost your soul. Your inner world is offended, shaken and tormented. If you will be able to cope with disappointment you will see how the pain becomes a medicine that cures your faults and addictions. Especially, to “win” over the love of self.

If you love and give, waiting that someone does the same to you, you are not doing things right.

The advice of our Lord Jesus Christ to love as “He loved us” changes radically conformist things and leads towards sacrifice, to the “denial of our self.” Then you come to understand how little your love is and how great His love is. You know, from the sorrow of your grief, that your love is limited and His is not. Thus, the cure of disappointment is needed in order to purify your soul. If you love and give yourself fully, then you have everything.

If nothing happens by chance, then good events, but especially the bad events in our life have their own purpose. What is this purpose? Sooner or later we will find out. But we definitely will know it “in the last day of the revelation of the Lord”, the day when everything will be revealed. We will also know the hidden love of God and His gifts, as well as His benefactions, hidden or revealed, that lead to our spiritual development.

However, knowing that our spiritual growth cannot be achieved without struggle, pain or grief, we will understand from this life, the meaning of our disappointment. The same goes for the meaning of the silence and mercy of God, Who allowed grief into our life in order for us to advance in our spiritual life, seeking His presence, trying to live according to His commandments, to love people as they are, loving them as “He loved us”.
