Each step towards God is counted by the angels

An old man was living in the desert, about 12 miles from any water source. Each day walking to bring water, very tired and upset the man said: ‘Why do I need this daily tiredness? Rather, I should move my shelter next to the water, in order not be troubled anymore or to get tired’. But saying this in his mind, he felt somebody’s presence behind him, on his tracks. He stopped and waited for the one that was following him and asked him: ‘Who are you?’.

How can man decide, know what to do?

He should ask God what to do. There is no other way. Otherwise, we would have a one month decision and afterwards fall much worse than would before.

The fulfilment of all wishes

Has something happened as you wanted, be grateful; if not, don’t be sad for nothing is eternal here and all things are temporal in this world. One care alone you are to have, don’t be a stranger to God and to His most holy grace.

Without self-sacrifice there is no salvation

Usually, when it comes about himself, man is always unfair and changes the scale; he is more rightful towards himself, he chooses the better, the biggest, and the most beautiful part: he cries and rejoices for himself more than for others. But, Christ crucified on the Cross the love for oneself, and gave His life for us. 

The Mother of God, our hope

The Mother of God is hope: ‘All my hope I place in thee, O Mother of God: keep me under thy protection!’

Let’s be grateful both for blessings and for trials

Let’s be grateful for the blessings given by God, and also for the evils the He allowed in our life. Why? For these ones are helpful, too.

God’s saints can greatly sanctify, but none as the Holy Mother of God

Brethren, you should have much piety towards Virgin Mary, for joyful is the family and the house that has inside it an icon of Our Lady and every morning reads her Akatist and Paraklesis, and all know by heart prayers to her. 

Children need well dosed freedom in order to grow up in harmony

If we hold them too tight as in a chain, saying always “no” to them, children may rebel and you will lose all authority. Actually, from his point of view you will become a negative influence. Restrictions must be carefully chosen and always based on your love and the understanding of their need to develop. A child will never understand the love that lays behind your “no”, but when used logically, it will have a good influence.
