love of God
Through their humbleness, saints usually pass unnoticed but they make their presence felt when people need support, comfort and cheering. They are always next to those who have abandoned them. To them, there is no such thing as an insurmountable difficulty or obstacle when it comes to help someone in a desperate situation. They become one’s best friends, the ones that make you feel comfortable near them but who, at the same time, make you feel embarrassed by your own moral shortcomings and sins.
Money, fortune and all pleasure cannot give you peace and true joy, because they don’t offer anything to the soul. The peace of the soul can be brought only by its Creator. The true peace can be reached only by those who live their life with God. In peace live only those who love and keep the law of God, the psalmist said (Psalm 118: 165).
Our confession should be done trusting in God’s forgiveness, and not in despair as that of Cain who said “My punishment is greater than I can bear” (Genesis 4: 13). In a similar way, Judas confessed before the bishops that he had sold innocent blood, but it served for nothing because he didn’t believe in the power of his confession.
