Fasting Means Abstinence from Wickedness
Translation and adaptation:
Fast needs to be accompanied by good deeds and abstinence from wickedness.
Fasting is done according to the Holy Scripture’s teaching, meaning to be accompanied by humbleness, mercy, purity and repentance as well as spiritual fasting – abstinence of thoughts and feelings.
This is also what the Fathers teach us “The true fasting and the one that is liked by God is the abstinence from wickedness…”
