Through voluntarily suffering and self-condemnation we do not take into consideration other struggles, because we have already chosen the hardest of them all, the only one that we truly deserve. Those who step onto this path not only that they do not give in in front of the struggle of this life but they also receive the grace of curing themselves from incurable illnesses.
We do need joy, as for this reason we were created by God. But spiritual joy is not same as the joy of this world. True spiritual joy means having a free heart, filled with the peace of Jesus. We have spiritual joy when we free ourselves from the dominion of the enemy, of evil thoughts and temptation
When a doctor makes a surgical intervention and the patient, because of the pain, reacts and tears off all the bandages and hits the doctor, what will he say? That he didn’t do the surgery in order to harm him but to cure him. The patient’s reaction can bring him his death. We act the same when we react to God’s tests that he sends for our own good. We should accept pain, suffering and sorrow, as a cure from God. We should endure the pain, the difficulty of our work and thank Him, be grateful and accept that our Father doesn’t make errors.
