Spiritual words

We Have Eaten But Have We Fed Ourselves?

The spiritual nurture is prayer, “our daily bread” of the soul. But, Jesus Christ has offered Himself as the food of our life and salvation of our soul by partaking with His Body and Blood.

The word of God is food for our soul. Because “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4, Jeremiah 15:16). Happy are those who feel “not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord” (Amos 8:11). The spiritual nurture is prayer, “our daily bread” of the soul.

But the soul was given even a greater nurture than this one. Jesus Christ has offered Himself as the food of our life and salvation of our soul. His Divine sacrifice is the most precious nutrient of our soul.

Thus, “as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:26-28).
