Our confession should be done trusting in God’s forgiveness, and not in despair as that of Cain who said “My punishment is greater than I can bear” (Genesis 4: 13). In a similar way, Judas confessed before the bishops that he had sold innocent blood, but it served for nothing because he didn’t believe in the power of his confession.
Life puts us to harsh tests - problems we’ve never thought of. So what? All of these are small compared to the sacrifice our Lord made for our salvation. He allows our struggle, but after a small amount of time he reveals again His glory. The more someone comes closer to the light the more we can see his flaws. The deeper we go into the spiritual life, the more we can see our faults, sins and know ourselves better.
