Humbleness is as useful as the salt added in food, and can overcome the power of many sins. And if we do achieve it, we will become sons of God, allowing us to sit next to Him, even if we didn’t do anything else but being humble. Because without humbleness, everything, all our virtues and all our deeds are in vain.
Nobody can achieve peace and spiritual serenity without fighting temptation and patiently enduring sorrow. The truth is that God did the same before He died on the Cross. He was mocked, humiliated and tortured. He very carefully built a model for us to follow. He created an image of His life on earth that we should struggle to follow.
Let’s be humans in the whole meaning of the word, to bear humanity in oneself. Humbleness is similar with humanity. Unfortunately, in today’s world there’s little humanity. Each one is thinking about his own good, how to earn many millions; and his neighbour can’t buy his own bread. Thus, young people should reflect upon my words. Living your life in vain, driven by passions, orgies, or useless parties is a loss of time and can mean the loss of eternity – the eternal happiness for which we were created.
„Brother, for the sake of the great gift God has given to you that through your sins so much you’ve damaged consider this: think of yourself as the most unworthy and faultiest of them all. Be grateful to those who allow you the chance to be humble, meaning those who denigrate or have denigrated you. Even if you reluctantly accept their words, make an effort and don’t show your discontent”.
Let’s make the effort of using our shortcomings in order to acquire the humble reasoning, because this is the enemy of pride that we don’t even take in consideration ourselves. You worry because you judge your neighbour: if we will be humble, we will no longer judge our neighbour. Let’s pray with humbleness, as the tax collector did, and God will hear our prayer- because God hears the prayer of the humble.
